Timing is Everything

In light of a few recent events my friends have been going through, I have had love and relationships on the brain. It has begun to feel like finding a loving, long lasting relationship is like discovering a small miracle. So many things have to be exactly in line for it to work. The timing has to be perfect, both people have to be ready, the chemistry in sync etc. There are so many details involved it seems like if one is missing it is doomed for failure. This is what makes loving and losing so difficult. Sometimes the love is there, but the other "miracle" components are missing. I believe that sometimes we  pass up true loves just because we met them a few years before we should have, or let them go a little too soon. Time will usually tell, after all...timing is everything.

I know this song has been way over-played on the radio, but this video is deeply moving, and come on...it's Adele, so just give it one more listen! :)

What to Wear?--Charlotte Taylor

Can you believe summer is almost here?! My little brother is graduating from high school this May, and I cannot believe how fast the time has gone. I remember saying, "Wow, he doesn't graduate until 2012"! Well here we are! Now, let's get down to business...what am I going to wear to his graduation!?

Charlotte Taylor is one of my favorite designers. I love her bold colors and design choices. I mean, come on who doesn't love color blocked ants, seahorses and penguins!?

I think I will be wearing the pink and orange camel dress from her Fall/Winter 2011 collection. ( I know, I know, so last season). It is one of my favorites, and I think it will be the perfect dress for such a memorable occasion.

Ellen's Dance Dares

The Ellen Show has a new segment called Ellen's Dance Dares, where people are encouraged to send in videos of themselves sneaking up behind someone and busting a move! These videos have me cracking up, so I thought I would share. Hope they make you laugh too. Happy Saturday!

Music Monday--Fair

I would have to say the movie Garden State has one of the best soundtracks! "Fair" by Remy Zero is my favorite song on the album. The lyrics speak to me. It stops you in your tracks and makes you want to pay attention. The song kicks in during Natalie Portman's fireside jig, and let me tell you, I don't think the scene would be the same without it...

Here are a few more of my favorite music scenes:

Fashion Friday--Lost in Fashion

Liu Bolin is a Chinese artist known for his "Hiding in the City" portraits that began as a protest against the Chinese government when they demolished the artists' village in Beijing. His collection involves hours upon hours on location to stage photographs where he submerges himself within the photograph. People know him as a real life invisible man. His photographs are extremely detailed and sensitive to light, scale and proportion. Liu has hidden everywhere from an aisle in a grocery store to the Great Wall of China.

Although Liu is the only subject in the photographs, he decided to make an exception for the March issue of Harper's Bazaar where he included fashion designers such as Angela Missoni, Jean Paul Gaultier and Valentino's Pierpaolo Piccioli and Maria Grazia Chiuri.

NYC

I just got back from a work trip to New York. Every time I arrive there I think to myself...."I could never live here" and sure enough, not long after the second day, I am picking out pretend apartments! There is something about the city that captivates you after a while. I spent my free nights roaming around the city. After a few days I found myself hustling across the intersections and hailing cabs like a true New Yorker.

I had a chance to meet up with my very first friend in L.A. whom I met close to 10 years ago. She loves living in New York, and I must say, it suits her well. After our lovely dinner on the Upper West Side I called my mom on the walk home just to tell her how happy I was at that very moment. I was proud of the woman I have become, the friends I have made and excited to see what else comes my way. I always knew I had big city dreams growing up in my small Wyoming town, and realizing that I am perfectly capable of achieving them all is a marvelous feeling.

Last time I was in NY I was walking near Times Square and ran smack into the gentleman who sat with me on my 10 hour flight from Germany three days prior! During this trip I was walking in an obscure neighborhood in the city and ended up running into one of the designers I do business with in Italy. We passed each other and then a second later both turned back to say, Hey! It's you! You wouldn't think this would happen in New York City, but that just shows how small the world really is! It happens all the time here in L.A. too.

As much as I enjoyed being in New York, I very happy to be home, but looking forward to my next trip to the big apple.
P.S....Stan Lee was on my flight home!

Good Genes!

I was captivated by the girl chosen to be the new face of the Italian Fashion House, Gucci. The fresh faced 25 year old is Charlotte Casiraghi, otherwise known as the legendary Grace Kelly's Granddaughter. I think she is absolutely stunning!

Being an experienced equestrian herself, the equestrian setting came very natural for her. Take a look at this behind the scenes footage. I can't wait to see the images to come! Good genes really do run in the family!

Music Monday -- AWOLNATION

AWOLNATION is an electronic rock band lead by Aaron Bruno. The name stems from his childhood nickname, AWOL, since he was known for leaving places often without saying goodbye. The first two singles, Sail and Not Your Fault are on radio rotation right now. I can sum up their album, Megalithic Symphony, in one word: Schizophrenic. There is not one particular consistent sound. Aaron has mentioned he does not have one specific genre he is interested in, and this definitely shows on the album. Critics have referenced everything from Nine Inch Nails to Nirvana and Aretha Franklin while describing Aaron's unique approach. I guess he sums it up better than I do, as his lyrics state in Sail -- "blame it on my ADD"

My current playlist includes: Sail, Not Your Fault, Wake Up and All I Need.

A Magnificent Morning...

This morning I woke up to sea lions barking, birds chirping and sun rays streaming through my bedroom window. Talk about waking up on the right side of the bed! This feeling reminds me of how lucky I am to live in such a beautiful place. Where most people travel to on vacation, I am able to live here year round...but let me tell you, I do not take one single harbor sunset or clear blue, palm tree sky for granted.
